Pre-Paid calling cards are not protected like gift cards

Gift cards laws do not cover calling cards

According to a new set of laws passed in 2003 in Massachusetts which protected gift cards, pre-paid calling cards should not be consider part of the protected pieces.

Mass. laws are likely to become a template for all the states. It is safe to assume that in all fifty states, pre-paid calling cards will not enjoy the protection from expiration and monthly charges that gift cards do.

While it is easy to follow this law and understand its implications, it is difficult to understand the rationale. Is not a prepaid calling card the same as a prepaid gift card to urban outfitters? What is the substantial difference between all gift cards and prepaid cards? We do not have the answers here at giftcertificateguide but we will look for the answers and report them when thye are found.
